Paramount is a vibrant community with a strong heritage that embraces cultural diversity. In a recent survey, an overwhelming majority of residents said that the City provides a high quality of life because of our commitment to safety and services that help the community thrive.

Paramount takes pride in being fiscally responsible. We have improved public safety while
protecting essential local services, even while the State took $6 million per year in local funds.
Today, we need a long-term revenue stream to address the City’s financial situation.

Local Funding to Keep Paramount Safe and Well-Maintained

Our top priority is maintaining the quality of life and public safety of our residents. To provide
stable, local funding for these essential services, we are considering placing a three-quarter cent sales tax measure on the March 2020 ballot. If approved by the voters, this locally controlled funding could:

● Maintain levels of public safety, including Sheriff’s patrols and school safety officers
● Repair streets, sidewalks and potholes
● Address homelessness
● Avoid cuts to youth violence prevention and after-school programs
● Keep parks and other public areas safe and clean
● Maintain storm drains to prevent flooding
● Protect local programs for seniors

All funds from the measure will be used solely for city services in Paramount. By law, no money could be taken away by the State or the County and independent financial audits would guarantee all funds are spent as voters intended.
